I know Grimaldi’s pizza is legendary, which is why I decided to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge to eat it. But my verdict? It looks good and it tastes good, but since it’s certainly not the best pizza I’ve ever had – Sweet Tomatoes beats it by a whole pie (I know, it’s in Boston) – it wasn’t worth waiting in line for an hour to try it. It just didn’t taste very fresh. And the sauce was nothing special.
I felt the same way about the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory, which is down the street from Grimaldi’s. I got the fresh peach ice cream but I was disappointed at the lack of peach flavor. I know peach ice cream is difficult to make well- but still- with all the hype surrounding both these places, I expected something more.
Grimaldi’s is at 19 Old Fulton Street, Brooklyn, NY (there’s also one in Hoboken) and the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory is across the street, at 2 Old Fulton Street, Brooklyn, NY.
